Browsing around the web recently, I came across this video, and felt very inspired to share it. I struggle with this still, as I'm sure many people do.
I love the questions that are asked and answered in this video, and it's just...awesome. OK, I want to talk more about it in a sec, but let's watch it so you'll know what I'm talking about...
What It Means To Be Pretty
Posted by BuzzFeed Video on Friday, April 10, 2015
Just a quick note, I LOVE BuzzFeed, so I'll probably share a bunch of their posts in the future :P
OK, so for me, my favorite part of this video is the question about the difference between "pretty" and "beauty" and what that is. I've honestly never really thought about that before. I've always considered them synonyms for the same thing - attractive. Hearing these women describe the difference though, was very encouraging. I love when one woman said something to the effect of: Beauty isn't something that can be taken away from you, it just is. I kind of love that idea.
Like, if I am a beautiful person, that just is. It doesn't matter if I'm having a good hair day, or if I haven't gotten enough sleep to keep the bags under my eyes at bay. It's not dependent on my outfit all matching perfectly, or my makeup looking like something off a YouTube tutorial. It just...is.
That's kind of a relief. Almost takes the pressure off, you know? Not that I want to just give up trying now, no. If anything, it makes me want to try harder. Like, I know the foundation (me, not makeup) is already set and good to go - I just have to be confident and happy, and the rest will be ok. Kinda rocks :)
What part did you like, or dislike? What do you think it means to be pretty?
